The abbreviation is GBS. His nickname is "Gifu-chan". Both radio and television are independent broadcasting stations.
In September 1962, Radio Gifu was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Gifu Shimbun (then Gifu Nichinichi Shimbun), a local newspaper. On December 24th of the same year, it started radio broadcasting as the 45th nationwide. The trigger was that after the Isewan Typhoon that occurred in 1959, the prefectural radio station "Radio Tokai" that existed at that time merged with the Mie prefecture radio station "Kinki Tokai Broadcasting" (formerly Radio Mie). , Tokai Radio Broadcasting (established in April 1960), a wide-area radio station in the Chukyo area, and NHK Gifu, which broadcast programs distributed from NHK Nagoya as they were, caused large-scale natural disasters. It is said that it was because of anxiety that there was no news agency centered on Gifu Prefecture at that time. After that, in August 1968, when the television broadcasting business started, it was renamed to the current Gifu Broadcasting.
